It is said that elections are won on the doorstep, and that may well be true. Being armchair activists, it’s difficult to check up on that.
Twitter and blogs however are part of our social media present and future, and if the election was decided there, how would each of the wards be looking?
Thank you @MedwayElects for all your efforts to inform voters and support democratic participation across #Medway. It's time we all took local democracy more seriously rather than giving up on it. @AnimalsCount https://t.co/u8Cgyin9Gh

There is no place in any mainstream political party for discrimination based on someone's faith – both main parties have more work to do on this.

Not yet decided who next mayor will be. Steve has done a great job.

Andrew, the KPMG report was sponsored and written within tight specifications. It is not independent evidence. Your questions about cost are very valid.
— Stuart Tranter (@CllrStuartT) April 6, 2019
What is clear is the @MedwayLabour have no idea about the cost of setting up a bus company much like the rest of their manifesto!
— Andrew Lawrence (@MrAWJLawrence) April 6, 2019
It confirms that only @MedwayTories are fit to run @medway_council

A good debate on the @MedwayTories campaign. Apparently @RSCCA has suffered a significant loss of members and support is tanking for @theresa_may @Conservatives
— Tris Osborne (@cllrtrisosborne) April 5, 2019
Chatted to a life-long Tory voter tonight who is so appalled at Theresa May that they won’t be voting for them again at the #LocalElections2019 Seems like everyone from councillors to members to voters are jumping ship. #MedwayElects19 @MedwayLabour

Not only was Medway Matters an additional magazine contrary to @mhclg recommendations but it was also over budget. Really not surprised. https://t.co/S1DjLSLiLM
— Tris Osborne (@cllrtrisosborne) April 6, 2019
I’d be fascinated to see any independent evidence that public investment in bus infrastructure *doesn’t* deliver an economic and social benefit. Any specific initial investment, as and when legislation allows progress on this, will be insignificant set against potential return.
— Cllr Alex Paterson (@ajpaterson) April 6, 2019
No. As you well know. But in reply to a post about primary class sizes being driven up by your party’s cuts that’s a pitiful attempt at deflection. Our manifesto for young people here… https://t.co/wsnrRvYCPR
— Cllr Alex Paterson (@ajpaterson) April 6, 2019
We're just as capable as Nottingham, Reading or Edinburgh of running our own buses. Financial benefits for those areas speak for themselves. So why did your lot legislate to protect foreign-owned natural monopolies like Arriva has in Medway? I can guess… https://t.co/gcPLGkQ9Eh

Another day and another mattress. Sick of it to be honest. It’s got worse since bulky waste charge was introduced by @MedwayTories pic.twitter.com/sEfDOpfERD

It is a factual situation in at least two local schools. Unless head teachers are lying to me. You are only underlining once again how little you know about #RochesterWest. As a former school governor myself under Labour and Tory governments, this one is on you.
— Cllr Alex Paterson (@ajpaterson) April 6, 2019
We didn’t let the cold, wind and rain dampen our spirits in #GillinghamNorth this afternoon, plenty of support from local residents for @MedwayLabour wanting to end 19 years of Tory rule.

More great conversations on the #LabourDoorstep. **Added in the sense of replaced some of the 500 officers cut since 2010. https://t.co/myp6HsAIjL
Government guidance on purdah is really strict. Why is @medway_council allowing the leader to make high profile bid announcements and now city of culture status in middle of local election period. The local Tory and Labour party are 'hell bent' on mass house building on the Peninsula. To vote for these parties on May 2nd, you will be voting for more of the same!!!!!!!
— Sonia Hyner (@greensonia4RS) April 10, 2019
New house building on the #HooPeninsula will result in higher concentrations of pollution as it is a rural population and more people will use cars to get around. This is linked to lack of planning and new Infrastructure.
